The verified first Permafrost Hopes and Dreams recording is in a truck bed past the hanging body, when you approach the facility from the collapsed bridge. Search the Military Area and check the Journal after each pickup. Precise object-level locations for recordings two and three are not confirmed here, so this guide does not give invented coordinates or a complete three-stop route.
The current quest update fixes completion for newly collected recordings. A save that was already affected by the recording-registration bug may remain blocked until another patch. It also allows High Frequency to complete while Hopes and Dreams is active, so the older advice to keep these two quests apart is no longer the current requirement.
Find the first recording from the collapsed bridge
Use the collapsed bridge as your approach reference. Move toward the facility and look for the hanging body. Continue past that landmark, then inspect the bed of the truck for the recording. The direction of approach matters: “past the body” is based on arriving from the collapsed bridge.
Check the truck's bed rather than limiting the search to its cab or nearby containers. The recording is a quest pickup, so inspect the object and its interaction prompt. After you collect it, read the current Journal objective before leaving the area.
The first recording belongs to Hopes and Dreams, and the collection area is identified as the Military Area. This distinguishes it from unrelated tapes found elsewhere, including the recordings used in Anna's House Camp side quest. Finding another named recording does not demonstrate that the Hopes and Dreams pickup registered.
If you already visited the truck, establish whether you actually interacted with the recording. Arriving at the landmark and collecting ordinary loot from the vehicle are separate from taking the quest item. If the recording is absent and you remember taking it, inspect the Journal's stored recordings and current objective instead of assuming you are at the wrong location.
Keep a record of the three named pickups
The recording series uses Recording #1, Recording #2, and Recording #3. Match the pickup name to the numbered recording you still need.
Their names help you compare what you collected with what the quest still requests. Recordings one and three are located in the Military Area. A precise container or landmark route for every pickup is not confirmed here.
| Recording | Confirmed location detail in this guide | Check after collecting |
|---|---|---|
| Recording #1 | Truck bed past the hanging body on the approach from the collapsed bridge | Its Journal entry and the active collection objective |
| Recording #2 | Exact pickup object not confirmed | Its own recording name and the active objective |
| Recording #3 | Military Area; exact pickup object not confirmed | Its Journal entry and the active collection objective |
Use this as a collection check, not a claim that the remaining two items are in the same truck. Do not substitute a guessed shelter, room, or map coordinate for a location that has not been confirmed.
For the remaining pickups, follow any objective guidance actually available in your save and inspect the item name before moving on. After an interaction, note the number you collected and whether the objective changed. That gives you a useful record if the quest later appears incomplete.
Compare the Journal recording with quest progress
Collected recordings stay in the Journal on the MEMOS page, where they can be played again. Recording #1 concerns people waiting for shelter and admission to the Slumber Project. Recording #3 adds a personal message and further context about events at the project's gates. These broad subjects can help identify the right series without reproducing the tapes' full dialogue.

The Hopes and Dreams tracker is at left. The highlighted Supplies Container belongs to Stolen Treasure; it is not a recording or a recording-location reference.
A recording appearing in MEMOS and the quest advancing are different checks. If a tape is stored but the collection objective stays incomplete, record that mismatch. Replaying the stored audio is useful for identifying the tape; it is not a confirmed method of recreating a missing pickup flag.
Likewise, hearing a Hopes and Dreams radio message does not by itself prove that every physical recording registered. Use the Journal's current instruction to distinguish collecting an item from any later listening step. Do not chase an extra physical tape solely because the objective has changed to a radio interaction.
Apply the current fix to a new collection attempt
Install the current quest update before collecting more recordings. Its fix applies to newly collected recordings, so check the objective immediately after the next valid pickup. A clean result is that the collection is acknowledged and the quest moves toward its remaining instruction or completion.
If your save collected the tapes before the fix and was already glitched, the update may not unblock it. That limitation matters more than repeatedly walking back to an empty pickup location. There is no confirmed action here that respawns an already-collected tape or forces the old save to recalculate the collection.
You can continue High Frequency while Hopes and Dreams is active under the current update. This removes an older sequencing restriction, but it is a separate fix from repairing a historically broken recording collection. Do not use progress in the tower quest as proof that the recordings quest was repaired too.
Report an incomplete collection with specific evidence
If the quest remains stuck, retain your save and record which numbered recordings appear in MEMOS. Capture the active Hopes and Dreams objective alongside that list. State whether the tapes were collected before or after the current update and whether you are playing solo or in co-op.
For Recording #1, include whether you searched the truck bed using the collapsed-bridge approach and whether the pickup was present. For a tape already collected, state its exact name and what the Journal did afterward. This separates a location problem from a collection-registration problem.
Include your installed version or build if the game or launcher displays it, plus the save and logs through the developer reporting process. A useful report shows the missing transition: an item that cannot be found, an item stored without credit, or a remaining listening objective that does not complete. The current update provides a fix for new pickups, while older affected saves still have a stated limitation.
